Complete Wellness Solutions is a participant in Cohort 3 of Transform, a data science and AI startup accelerator powered by Deep Tech Ventures at the University of Chicago’s Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and Innovation in collaboration with the Data Science Institute.

Complete Wellness Solutions (CWS) is a population health management company with technology capable of adapting to the evolving health care environment backed by robust health analytic capabilities.

The team is made up of a unique blend of expertise in wellness, population health management, technology, and data analytics. This range of experiences is one of its core advantages, said CEO Linda Passmore, who has more than 30 years of experience working with employers, agents, and carriers regarding employee benefits and population health management.

CTO Chuck Zumbrun, has over 30 years of experience in leading and developing secure, highly reliable networked systems, including a multi-level military telemedicine system. Jason Edgar, chief analytics officer, has a decade of experience leading and supporting data science initiatives in health and wellness, pharmaceutical, airlines, and consulting industries. He also is a part-time teaching assistant for the Applied Data Science Program at University of Chicago where he received his Master’s in Analytics.

Now, this team is taking their collective knowledge and addressing the fragmented landscape of population health management solutions.

As Edgar explained, population health solutions have traditionally been siloed, with wellness and disease management companies, behavioral and mental health companies, and health analytics companies all addressing different aspects of health and well-being, but each with significant limitations due to their narrow scope.

“This, in turn, often limits program effectiveness to only a small subset of participants on a narrow set of health outcomes,” he explained.

As its name suggest, the company’s mission is to simplify and enhance population health management by providing a technology and analytics platform that administers complete, configurable, and data-driven solutions. The goal is to improve physical and mental well-being, increase health care compliance, and reduce health expenditure.

What sets them apart from the competition, Edgar said, is their focus on comprehensive solutions.

“From wellness program planning to execution and ongoing support, CWS offers a seamless, end-to-end experience,” he added. “Our technology platform serves as the backbone for program delivery, while our data analytics capabilities enable us to deliver targeted, effective, and impactful health interventions.”

Edgar said AI and advanced analytics are “pivotal” in identifying health risk factors, optimizing wellness program design, supporting high program engagement, automating targeted health interventions, and measuring outcomes.

“By leveraging AI, CWS can process and analyze vast amounts of health data from key sources to predict health trends, tailor and administer interventions/recommendations for specific population segments, improve care compliance, and assess the effectiveness of programs,” he explained.

The company has already made significant gains in traction while diversifying its customer base. Of note, the team has made offering robust mental health services a top priority.

“Overall, we attribute our strong traction over the past five years to our flexible technology platform, which has allowed us to offer configurable population health solutions to different customer segments while leveraging the same platform,” said Passmore. This has reduced development time, costs, and delays.

Edgar said the vision for the next five years is to become an industry-leading, nationally recognized population health management company.

“Additionally, we would like to bridge the gap between physical and mental health support, ensuring parity in the attention given to both, which remains an unmet need in traditional wellness programs,” added Passmore. Through sharing their story – results, successes, and failures – and working to develop a set of best practices in population health management, the team also hopes to become a thought leader in the industry. And they hope participating in the Transform program will be the catalyst to help them reach this next level.

“We aim to leverage the accelerator’s network for funding, talent acquisition, strategic networking opportunities for new partnerships and client acquisition, and strategic advice and mentorship,” said Edgar. “We’re excited about the opportunities Transform presents and are committed to leveraging the program to make significant strides in improving population health management and making a lasting impact on health outcomes for our clients and their populations.”

// Powered by the Polsky Center’s Deep Tech Ventures, Transform provides full-spectrum support for the startups accepted into the accelerator, including access to business and technical training, industry mentorship, venture capital connections, and funding opportunities.
