The Korea Institute of Environmental Health and Technology announced on the 4th that it will officially sponsor the “2025 Gwangmyeong City Environmental Education Week Event (2025 Gwangmyeong Eco-Festa),” which will be held from the 4th to the 13th, and participate in major programs.
The event will be co-hosted by Gwangmyeong City, Gwangmyeong City Environmental Education Center, and the Gwangmyeong City Branch of the Korean Red Cross. Various educational programs will be prepared so that citizens can experience the circulation of resources and environmental practices in daily life. The theme is ‘Circle, connect me and the earth’.
As part of ESG (environmental, social, and governance) management, the researcher is sponsoring the event to spread a culture of sustainable environmental practice through connection with local communities. In particular, this event is a place where local residents, institutions, and experts participate together to form a consensus on circular practice, and is a representative example of public-private cooperative environmental education.
Baek Young-man, director of the Institute for Environmental Health and Technology, will attend the opening ceremony on the 7th as a guest and deliver greetings. As an environmental health expert, Director Baek plans to emphasize the importance of civic participatory environmental education and the institution’s continued interest and role in strengthening the community’s environmental practice capabilities. The event is expected to shed light on the researcher’s public responsibilities and efforts to spread environmental values.
On the 13th, the forum “Talking about Circulation: Using Wise Plastic” will be held at Gwangmyeong Lifelong Learning Center. Moon Hee-sung, head of the recycling environmental evaluation team at the institute, will attend the forum as a presenter and present “the proper use of deplastics and plastics in the era of carbon neutrality” as an expert in the field of plastic circulation economy. The forum is operated in a participatory format, including citizen question-and-answer and action plan sharing. The results of the discussion will be released through the Gwangmyeong City Environmental Education Platform.
In the future, the researcher plans to strengthen cooperation with local communities as part of ESG management practice and continue activities to improve the environment and spread civic awareness.
